A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Gregorius21778: Vengeance of a Burned Witch
Gregorius21778: Vengeance of a Burned Witch is a role playing game supplement written and published by Kai Pütz a.k.a Gregorius21778 for use with Lamentations of the Flame Princess. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 15 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. The PDF comes in two versions, one with and one without a background, and one page is the front cover, about half a page is the front matter and one the Open Game License. There are two jpg maps of the village, one with labels and one without.
The opening paragraphs explain that a witch that was burned has returned and, essentially, needs defeating. This adventure is suggested as a side quest.
Background gives the details as to how the witch came to be killed and how her bones were not properly buried.
How to Involve the PC has some possible adventure hooks, with a sidebar explaining that a standard one isn’t used, because it makes it too obvious what needs to be done.
What is Important for the Scenario covers the different elements that are required.
The Village of Hillsgreen Crossing briefly details the village, though not the inhabitants or the locations more than what they are, along with some rumours, most of which are misdirection.
How it Starts has the initial event, which the characters should see and, hopefully, get involved with. Otherwise, the adventure will not involve them. The NPCs who have information are then detailed.
Following this are the major locations for the adventure and what can be found at each.
Opponent Stats has the stats for the two major entities the characters will face.
Gregorius21778: Vengeance of a Burned Witch in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and a number of minor errors were spotted. There are a number of colour and black and white stock images. Presentation is okay.
This is basically a short adventure with a bit of a puzzle to it, as the characters will need to work out what happened to the witch and, from that, how to deal with her undead remains. So, it will require a bit more investigation to ferret out the truth than might be expected. Gregorius21778: Vengeance of a Burned Witch is a decent little side adventure and can be found by clicking here.
