A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Gregorius21778: Looks & Loot for Post-Apocalyptic Motorized Nomads

Gregorius21778: Looks & Loot for Post-Apocalyptic Motorized Nomads is a generic role playing game supplement published by Kai Pütz a.k.a Gregorius21778 that is suitable for post-apocalyptic settings.

This is a nine-page PDF that is available from DriveThruRPG for $1.50 but was received for free thanks to a special discount. One page is the front cover, about half a page is the front matter and one page is ads. The PDF comes in two versions, a printer friendly one with a black and white background and one in colour.

Gregorius21778: Looks & Loot for Post-Apocalyptic Motorized NomadsAbout half a page introduces what the supplement is for and states that it is intended to be used to describe nomads, suggesting Looks & Details of Post-Apocalyptic Marauders and Loot Tables for Stuff inside of Post-Apocalyptic Battle-Cars for marauders and raiders. The supplement consists of a number of d100 tables, although most lack 100 entries.

The first table is Vehicles. This lists vehicle of different types, and each entry has a paragraph on the advantages and disadvantages of it, and why nomads would use them.

Vehicle Modifications is changes that can be carried out to a vehicle. There is a paragraph on some general changes that can be done, that aren’t listed in the table as they are said to depend on feasibility, then more specific ones. Again, each modification has a paragraph discussing it.

Looks is the third table and this has physical appearance; not mutations but clothes, accessories and such as tattoos. These are self-explanatory.

The final table is Loot, which are things that could be found in the possession of nomads. Some are man-portable; others would be in a vehicle. This is then followed by some notes on loot; there are some things that nomads will have to have, unless there is a very good reason not to, such as food, water and fuel. A few items are then covered in more detail.

Gregorius21778: Looks & Loot for Post-Apocalyptic Motorized Nomads in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that they are not needed, but they would have been appreciated. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format, either colour or black and white depending on the version, and appeared mostly free of errors. There are a number of pieces of appropriate black and white stock art. Presentation is okay.

The material given is probably more appropriate to near post-apocalyptic settings, where the apocalypse was within living memory, and not far in the future, rather than those that took place hundreds of years in the past or in the future as viewed from the present, as the loot is modern loot rather than futuristic and would probably have bene long-lost in a distant future setting. The supplement does provide a good list of customising nomads in such a setting, but it will need to be teamed up with some game rules in many cases, such as with the vehicles and modifications, although less so with some of the loot, which might have an obvious practical value, or be simply worth money. Gregorius21778: Looks & Loot for Post-Apocalyptic Motorized Nomads is a nice supplement for fleshing out post-apocalyptic nomads and it can be found by clicking here.
