A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Gregorius21778: Broken Things

Gregorius21778: Broken Things is a role playing game supplement written and published by Kai Pütz a.k.a Gregorius21778. The supplement is intended for use with Lamentations of the Flame Princess and is an addition for Veins of the Earth.

The supplement is available from DriveThruRPG as a four page Pay What You Want PDF. One page is the front cover and half a page is the front matter.

Gregorius21778: Broken ThingsThe opening paragraphs explain that this supplement originated as a blog post about six different Gilgamash, which then had additional material intended to match up with the official Gilgamash from Veins of the Earth, Gilgamash being golem-like intelligent statues made from mismatched parts, and then finally tidied up for publication.

Final Steps First: The Second and Third part of Creation has two d6 tables, for Made By and I Must. Made By essentially is how the Gilgamash was created, or believes it was created, and I Must is a goal that it pursues.

First Things Last: Name & Being has the descriptions for six different Gilgamash. Each is given an evocative name, a description and some unusual powers. Each of the six Gilgamash has what could be called a different primary ability, and in some cases these may be useful. In many they are more dangerous than useful.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that it doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text maintains a two-column format, although the table infringes into column and might have been better placed elsewhere, and a couple of minor errors were noticed. The single illustration is a small dungeon map. Presentation is okay.

This supplement is what it sets out to be. Six new Gilgamesh, fashioned in the same way as those in Veins of the Earth, each with an odd appearance and sometimes dangerous powers, even when killed. Gregorius21778: Broken Things is a nice little addition for Veins of the Earth and can be found by clicking here.
