Gregorius21778: 20 Encounters on a Haunted Road in the Carpathians of Old is a role playing game supplement published by Kai Pütz a.k.a Gregorius21778. This is a collection intended for use with Lamentations of the Flame Princess.

This is a ten page PDF that is available from RPGNow for $0.75 although it was purchased at the reduced price of $0.56 during a sale. One page is the front cover and one page is the front matter and about the supplement. The PDF comes in two version, one with colour page backgrounds and a printer-friendly version that lacks these.

This is a simple list of 20 different encounters. The general intent is for them to be in a woodland region near to a mountain, although this could always be tweaked.

The encounters vary in type. Some are with fairly normal people for the kind of area assumed; others include supernatural events and encounters with vampires and werewolves.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and doesn’t really need them at its length, but they would have been appreciated. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a single column format and a few minor errors were noticed; the author makes his standard disclaimer about not being a native English speaker but the quality is perfectly acceptable. Bar the page backgrounds, there are no images. Presentation is okay.

The supplement is written for the Lamentations of the Flame Princess system. Although any mechanics given are for that system, and it does have a few differences to other systems, it shouldn’t be too difficult adapting the supplement to other systems, including both Old School and modern.

The encounters are in general suited to a darker setting, but this could quite easily include such as Ravenloft. Some might work for Call of Cthulhu as well, although generally only older settings; Gaslight should fit quite nicely.
