Four Horsemen Present: Alien Races - Sokura

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Four Horsemen Present: Alien Races – Sokura

Four Horsemen Present: Alien Races – Sokura by Tim Hitchcock is a role playing game supplement published by Rogue Genius Games and The Four Horsemen for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 10-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.95 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. One page is the front cover, one the Credits and one the Open Game License.

Four Horsemen Present: Alien Races - SokuraThe opening text gives an overview of the sokura, described as a nomadic people living on a near-dead planet orbiting about a dying sun. It gives details on their physical description, which is somewhat centaur-like, society, relations with others, alignment and religion, adventurers, and some example names. This provides a detailed background to the species.

Sokura Racial Traits gives these, and Alternate Racial Traits has some options.

Racial Feats has three new feats.

Vital Statistics explains that sokura born out of their homeworld’s high gravity are taller and tend to live longer.

Favoured Class Options gives these, and there are tables of random starting ages, both on their homeworld and offworld, aging effects, and random height and weight.

Racial Archetypes has Honored Nomad, and a new cavalier order, Order of the Nomad, and mind singer rules.

New Racial Rules has some new weapons for the sokura.

Using Sokura in Your Campaign has tips for using them. They were designed for a space fantasy campaign, but they can be adapted to a fantasy game.

Sokura finally has a monster example.

Four Horsemen Present: Alien Races – Sokura in Review

The PDF is bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format, and one error noticed was that the section headings did not follow a consistent rule and many seemed to be wrong. There are a couple of colour illustrations, one of which may be custom. Presentation is okay.

This is a decent little supplement detailing a new species. Though it wasn’t designed for use with Starfinder, and would need modification to use it that way, it is the sort of supplement that should work well with it. Four Horsemen Present: Alien Races – Sokura can be found by clicking here.
