Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Perfect Aneshka, Fate's Immaculate Blade (PFRPG)

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Perfect Aneshka, Fate’s Immaculate Blade (PFRPG)

Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Perfect Aneshka, Fate’s Immaculate Blade (PFRPG) by Matt Banach and Justin Sluder is a role playing game supplement published by Rite Publishing for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. This is a single NPC at three different CRs.

The supplement is available as a 15-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $2.95 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, one the Open Game License and one page is ads.

Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Perfect Aneshka, Fate's Immaculate Blade (PFRPG)Perfect Aneshka, Fate’s Immaculate Blade explains that this NPC used to be an elite assassin, but spared a target, fled and remained free just long enough to raise a family who were then killed. Now she believes that Fate killed her family for leaving her mission. This also covers Dreamburning, lore and using her in-game.

The three different versions follow, arranged in the book from high to low CR.

The CR 8 version is a horrifically overpowered half-giant ranger (urban ranger, weapon champion) 6.

The CR 14 version is a horrifically overpowered half-giant ranger (urban ranger, weapon champion) 11.

The CR 22 version is a horrifically overpowered half-giant ranger (urban ranger, weapon champion) 18.

A psi-like ability, stomping the ground (Perfect Aneshka is a half-giant) is detailed. There are new feats, some Horrifically Overpowered feats, new traits, new magic items, details on the half-giant and archetypes.

Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Perfect Aneshka, Fate’s Immaculate Blade (PFRPG) in Review

The PDF is bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. As well as the cover illustration, there is some black and white stock art. Presentation is decent.

Possibly the most noticeable part of the build is the “Horrifically Overpowered” part. Horrifically overpowered means that Perfect Aneshka takes feats from The Genius Guide To: Horrifically Overpowered Feats. In particular, Gestalt and Prestigious. Gestalt allows the individual to gain the abilities of another character class, without needing to have the class. Prestigious is similar, but for prestige classes. Perfect Aneshka starts out with effectively having two classes and ends up with four. She is far more powerful – overpowered? – than the simple stats might suggest. This is one deadly NPC in combat. Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Perfect Aneshka, Fate’s Immaculate Blade (PFRPG) is a lethal and perhaps utterly bonkers NPC and can be found by clicking here.
