Evocative City Sites: Lorn's Entrepot (Abandoned Warehouse)

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Evocative City Sites: Lorn’s Entrepot (Abandoned Warehouse)

Evocative City Sites: Lorn’s Entrepot (Abandoned Warehouse) by Steve Russell is a role playing game supplement published by Rite Publishing for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

This is a 47 page PDF that is available from DriveThruRPG for $2.95 but was purchased at a greatly reduced price as part of a special bundle. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, one the Open Game License and two pages are ads for other supplements.

Evocative City Sites: Lorn's Entrepot (Abandoned Warehouse)The first two pages of content are black and white maps of the warehouse interior and roof. This is followed by the series’ standard in-character narration. The warehouse is not owned any longer by Lorn; it used to be an independent storehouse until the guilds forced it out of business and Lorn into debtor’s prison. This makes reference to two other sites in the series, the Rogue’s Gallery Tavern and the Intimate Shape Festhall.

Now abandoned, the warehouse is used as the home of a beggar and an independent group of thieves. Secrets are provided for these, as neither are what they seem. The warehouse also is home to a strife elemental – how the other occupants cope with this creature is not certain.

Finally, there are stats for the elemental, the beggar and the leader of the thieves, who has a unique magic item, with the usual complicated stat blocks seen in Rite supplements.

The remaining 32 pages of content are battlemaps for the warehouse interior and roof.

Evocative City Sites: Lorn’s Entrepot (Abandoned Warehouse) in Review

The PDF lacks any bookmarks and consequently navigation is poor. The text maintains a two column black and white format and a few minor errors were noticed. There are a number of black and white illustrations, both public domain and custom, as well as the maps. Presentation is okay.

As with other entries in the Evocative City Sites series, this is theoretically located in the publisher’s setting of Questhaven. As with other entries in the series, dropping it into another setting is easy enough – despite the passing references to two other entries, this is simply an abandoned warehouse.

The NPCs are interesting enough, especially as they are hiding major secrets as to who they really are, but what this supplement lacks that is seen in others in the series is the adventure hooks. So, as a consequence, there are no suggestions as to how a GM might incorporate it into their campaign. So it’s essentially just a location that could perhaps be more detailed. Evocative City Sites: Lorn’s Entrepot (Abandoned Warehouse) is an okay location, but not one of the better ones in the series, and it can be found by clicking here.
