Everyman Minis: Microsized Templates

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Everyman Minis: Microsized Templates

Everyman Minis: Microsized Templates by Alexander Augunas is a role playing game supplement published by Everyman Gaming and Rogue Genius Games for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

Everyman Minis: Microsized TemplatesThe supplement is available as a ten-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $2.95 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, five the Open Game License and one is an ad.

Welcome to Everyman Minis! is an introduction to the series as a whole.

When Should I Use a Microsized Template? is a sidebar which explains that the templates are intended to be used when characters are dramatically diminished in size, by one or more size categories. It looks at when they should be used, with examples.

Microsized Templates explains that they use the same rules as for simple templates in the Bestiary. It explains that each uses a standardised format, with Size Category having the creature’s size intended for by number of size categories, Microsized Creature are modifications done to a creature whose size has been diminished and Ordinary-Sized Creature are the modifications for a creature whose size hasn’t been diminished versus microsized creatures.

There are then eight different templates, from one to eight size categories, making them all basically similar but with different numbers.

The PDF lacks bookmarks, but as the content is only a small portion of the book (a smaller font should probably have been used for the OGL), these are not needed. Navigation is fine. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be almost free of errors. There is a single colour illustration, that from the cover which is also used inside the supplement. Presentation is fine.

Though it isn’t stated, the supplement may be a companion to Microsized Adventures. The templates are simple enough and are all basically similar; as the difference between sizes gets larger, ordinary creatures become a lot more dangerous to microsized creatures. At eight size categories different, microsized creatures are going to be seriously outclassed even by ordinary creatures. Everyman Minis: Microsized Templates is a useful collection of templates for combat changes for tiny creatures and it can be found by clicking here.
