Eldorian Resource: The Scarlet Sisterhood

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Eldorian Resource: The Scarlet Sisterhood

Eldorian Resource: The Scarlet Sisterhood by Keith Done is a role playing game supplement published by Friends of Eldoria for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. This is stated to be an update for the Reliquarium Eldoria and is an abbreviated version; the full supplement is available for Patrons on Patreon.

This is a ten page supplement that is available as a Pay What You Want PDF from RPGNow. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one page bears the Eldoria logo, one page is an ad for the publisher’s Patreon campaign and other supplements and one page is blank.

Eldorian Resource: The Scarlet SisterhoodThe majority of the content is The History of the Scarlet Sisterhood. This history starts from the Order’s original beginning as a sisterhood of battlefield healers established by the Empress as the Imperial Angels. The Order was given great leeway in how they chose to heal on the battlefield and eventually, during a blood battle of a civil war, became known as the Scarlet Sisterhood, after the sisters left the field with their white robes stained red with blood. The Sisterhood declined over the years, with most of the members being killed in another battle, and the two survivors disbanded it. More recently the Sisterhood was reformed, as a rise in tension signalled an increase in the number of battles likely to be fought. This is a nicely detailed bit of background information for the Eldoria setting.

This section also has a couple of sidebars, one on Esmia, the Goddess of Healing, whose faith the Sisterhood belongs to. The second is the structure of the church of Esmia in general; the sisters do not quite follow the standards for the faith.

The final page has stats for a sample Scarlet Sister, or Warpriest.

Eldorian Resource: The Scarlet Sisterhood in Review

The supplement is short enough that it doesn’t need bookmarks, although such would have been appreciated. The text primarily follows a single column format, but with sidebars on two pages, and quite a few errors were noticed. The layout is in full colour with a number of presumably stock images. Presentation is decent.

This supplement is very tied to Eldoria, to the degree where using it in another setting will be difficult. Although another religion could be used for the Sisterhood, most of the content is devoted to specific details of specific conflicts of specific nations, and translating these to another setting will be time consuming. The sample Scarlet Sister, however, can easily be dropped into another setting. Eldorian Resource: The Scarlet Sisterhood is a decent resource for Eldoria, but less so outside that setting, and can be checked out for free by clicking here.
