Aliens Among Us

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Aliens Among Us

Aliens Among Us by Jospeh Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with Cepheus Engine. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 15 page Pay What You want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter and three the Open Game License.

Aliens Among UsThe opening paragraphs explain the characters are approached by someone who says that a number of important officials in the Sonora sector – though not stated, the adventure is set in the Frontiers of Space – have been replaced by aliens looking to conquer the sector.

Patron gives stats on the patron.

Complications explains the problems that can be encountered. One of these is that the patron is stated to be insane, and is now off his meds.

The Targets for Capture gives details on the three people the patron wants capturing.

Random Possibilities has a 2d6 table of random things, which include that the patron might not be wrong, at least about some of the targets.

Three Worlds/Three Leaders of Men gives brief details on the three worlds on which the three targets live.

Prime Minister Adam Weber of Xavusce gives some details on his security precautions and team.

Baron Oliver of Doderia gives similar details.

Head Librarian Mehmet Ota of Zapbiaa again gives similar details.

If the Travelers Do Kidnap the Three People gives some potential responses, which includes the patron killing the targets if he thinks they are aliens.

Game Master Note explains that there are a lot of blanks to be filled in.

Mission Completion Objectives states the main one is not to be arrested for kidnapping. Or, though not stated in this section, as accessories to murder.

Aliens Among Us in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, there are enough sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a single column format and some minor errors were noticed. Bar the covers, there are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.

This is a fairly barebones adventure, and if the characters do accept the mission, there is a very high chance they will have significant trouble if doing so, even if the patron turns out to be right. This makes is a less than optimal adventure for them to agree to. Aliens Among Us can be found by clicking here.
