Wilderness Dressing: Hills (P1) Remastered

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Wilderness Dressing: Hills (P1) Remastered

Wilderness Dressing: Hills (P1) Remastered by Brian Gregory is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 13-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two are ads, one the front matter and Contents and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.

Wilderness Dressing: Hills (P1) RemasteredFirst is a brief paragraph on hills.

Minor Events is a d100 list of minor events to happen in the hills.

Minor Dressings is a similar d100 table of minor interesting features.

Uneventful Day’s Travel is a d100 list with 20 results of minor things to happen on an uneventful day.

Campsites is a d100 list with 20 results describing potential campsites.

Random Hill Encounters is a d12 list of random encounters from CR 1 to CR 12.

Wilderness Dressing: Hills (P1) Remastered in Review

The PDF is well bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. The Contents only covers the major sections, but is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There is a single full page black and white illustration. Presentation is okay.

This is another remastered version, with slightly more changes than many of the remastered versions. The Hill Features section, which was Pathfinder game mechanics related to hilly terrain, has been removed, and in its place are the Uneventful Day’s Travel and Campsites tables. This does perhaps make this worth getting for anyone who has the original, or the compilation supplement, though not at full price. The removal of the Pathfinder specific section, and the fact that the Pathfinder mechanics in the first two tables are now footnotes, makes this an essentially system neutral supplement rather than a Pathfinder one. The Random Hill Encounters table has the same old problem; the chance of encountering three orcs should not be the same as that of encountering an adult copper dragon.
