Royalty by Joseph Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with Cepheus Engine. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 16 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter and three the Open Game License.
The opening paragraphs explain that the characters are approached by a member of a high-ranking noble family for high passage to another planet in the sector – the adventure is set in the Frontiers of Space – along with everything she considers necessary for the journey.
Complications are the various things that can go wrong or which aren’t known.
The Dolpen has details on the noble.
The Body Guards has details on these.
The Luggage briefly covers her nearly 15 tonnes of luggage.
The “Pets” has stats for the two creatures accompanying the Dolpen.
The Spacecraft from the Urayan Mining Company has details on the craft that has been hired to prevent the Dolpen from reaching her destination.
Bandus Prime has brief details on this world.
Unreasonable Demands are things that the Dolpen may decide she wants.
Other Stopping Places Along the Way explains that none of these have been developed.
Acts of Sabotage explains what someone is willing to do to stop the Dolpen reaching her destination.
Mission Completion explains this is to get the Dolpen to her destination on time.
A Return Mission has the price for a return, not time limited, journey.
The final page of content has a map of Bandus Prime, which is really not needed.
Royalty in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, has enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column format and some minor errors were noticed. Bar the map and covers, there are no illustrations. Presentation is okay.
The Dolpen is pretty much the stereotypical spoiled noble brat in person, and will no doubt cause a lot of trouble for the characters. In addition, the GM is going to need to develop quite a bit of extra material for the adventure, should any of the other stopping places be visited, given that none are developed. Overall, this seems like it should have been developed further. Royalty can be found by clicking here.
