Yin Yang Panda – Locust Khanate by Łukasz Kołodziej is a free role playing game supplement published by Skavenloft for use with Yin Yang Panda.
The supplement is available as a 12-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Table of Contents.
The Introduction explains that this is a splatbook for Yin Yang Panda and covers the steppe land bordering the Dragonfly Empire.
How to Use This is a standard piece of text that explains you need this, the core book and the usual playing materials.
We Have Guests! has six elements of the Locust Khanate to add to the Dragonfly Empire.
We Are Guests! is similar, but it is for adding elements of the Dragonfly Empire to the Khanate.
The Locust Khanate gives some brief details on the nomad-inhabited land. The Khanate and the Empire are technically not at war at the moment, but skirmishes still go on.
Landscape explains that it is a large country, but one that is very arid.
Culture gives some brief details on the culture of the inhabitants of the Khanate.
Martial Arts explains that those arts practiced in the Khanate fall into two main branches; wrestling, a sport, and archery, a war art.
Playing Aids has a d12 table of names, an explanation that surnames are not used and what is used instead, d6 places to meet, folks to meet and folks to avoid, d12 treats to try and d6 weapons to master.
Finally, there are four new martial arts following the same layout as the others; falcon, horse, leopard and yak.
Yin Yang Panda – Locust Khanate in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and though short these would have been appreciated. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a couple of illustrations, black and white and colour. Presentation is okay.
Like other splatbooks of this type, this briefly covers a new region and gives some new elements, both for flavour and for the game, to use. Yin Yang Panda – Locust Khanate is a decent little expansion to the game and it can be downloaded for free by clicking here.
