The Sunday Supplement Sampler by Creighton Broadhurst is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press. It is covered by the Open Game License and, as such, some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 13-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two the front matter, half the Contents, one the Open Game License and one an ad.
The first page of content has two d20 tables, one of words with their meanings, the other with street names.
The Foreword explains that this is a compilation of the first four weeks of the GM’s Sunday Supplement. Each week, subscribers get one piece of Ashlarian Legendry, one piece of Ashlarian Lore and three Campaign Components delivered. These refer to the Duchy of Ashlar setting.
The remainder of the supplement is taken up by snippets of setting material. Each is given a name, its type, divided into the three types mentioned in the Foreword, and a description. There are four pieces of Ashlarian Legendry, four of Ashlarian Lore and twelve Campaign Components. Legendary has a dragon, vile star, sea and a historical figure. Lore has an annual event, two historical figures and a starmetal. Campaign Components has a demon, dragon and a dungeon, an artefact, a dragon cult, a hamlet and a ruin, a fallen realm, a dragon, a forest and a swamp, a lake and a ruin, a ruin, an urban area and a vampire, a dungeon and two taverns and urban areas.
The Sunday Supplement Sampler in Review
The PDF is well bookmarked with the various sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There is a single stock black and white illustration. Presentation is okay.
This is a collection of system neutral campaign lore for the Duchy of Ashlar setting. As such, it will be of most use to those using that setting, but some could be used in other settings with a bit of tweaking. Rather than covering anything in great detail, this has bits of background information that can be used to flesh out a setting. In many ways, it’s reminiscent of some of the material put out by Board Enterprises. The Sunday Supplement Sampler is a useful collection and it can be found by clicking here.
