Edelweiss – Premium by Marek Golonka is a free role playing game supplement published by Skavenloft for use with Edelweiss. The supplement is covered by the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 Unported license.
The supplement is available as an 11-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two the front matter and one the Table of Contents. The PDF comes in two versions, one with a small file size, the other of higher quality.
The Introduction explains that this is an update to Edelweiss and that by reading it you are obligated to pay the team a small fee for various in-game actions. There is also a Friendly Informant Program, where you can reduce your own costs by informing on those who fail to send the required payments.
Payments explains the extras that cost more to use in character creation and when playing the game, and how to get a discount by spreading the word.
Finally, the Payment Table helpfully lists all the fees.
Edelweiss – Premium in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with the various sections linked. The Table of Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be mostly free of errors. There are some colour public domain images up to full page in size. Presentation is decent.
Okay, in case you haven’t realised it, this is a joke supplement that was released for April 1st. The quote from Cynthia Williams, then-CEO of Wizards of the Coast, about how D&D is under monetised makes it clear just who the joke is aimed at. Really, this cannot be evaluated as a supplement, because it isn’t one, and it has no in-game use. Edelweiss – Premium can be downloaded for free by clicking here.
