10 Feeding Surprises by Jacob Klünder is a role playing game supplement published by White Wolf through the Storytellers Vault Community Content Programme for use with Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition.
The supplement is available as a 10-page PDF for free from Storytellers Vault. One page is the front cover, two pages are the front matter and one is the table of contents.
The Introduction explains that the supplement has 10 surprises vampires might encounter whilst feeding, but not those such as fae, supernatural or anything else like that.
Next the surprises are detailed. Each is given a title, a quote and a detailed explanation. They range from such as the vampire knowing the person they are feeding on, because they are a minor celebrity that they like, to the side-effects of drinking the blood of someone who is on recreational pharmaceuticals to accidentally, rather than intentionally, killing the person and needing to hide the body.
10 Feeding Surprises in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that they are not essential though they would have been appreciated. The contents merely list a chapter and introduction. Navigation is okay. The text follows a two-column format and appeared to be free of error. There are a number of black and white stock illustrations. Presentation is okay.
No game stats are given for any of these for they are essentially complications and hooks, and will therefore work with other versions of Vampire and many of the settings throughout history too, though some may some tweaks to fit in with the period. Many of them put the Masquerade at risk because the feeding vampire is revealed to outsiders in some way, which gives them an added problem. The feeding surprises could be used as minor problems encountered or could rapidly become far more significant, as the character has to deal with someone learning too much. 10 Feeding Surprises is a nice little supplement that can be downloaded for free by clicking here.
