Woodrum's Curious Collection of Village Map Details

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Woodrum’s Curious Collection of Village Map Details

Woodrum’s Curious Collection of Village Map Details by Dave Woodrum is a generic role playing game supplement published by Fishwife Games.

The supplement is available as a 17-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $2.95 but was purchased at a reduced price during a sale. One page is the front cover, one the front matter and one the Table of Contents.

Woodrum's Curious Collection of Village Map DetailsThe Introduction explains that the supplement contains 100 locations that can be used to flesh out a village, should characters decide to investigate unplanned things in a village. It states that the locations are less common crafts, field workers and labourers and a few of the more common locations, but such as blacksmiths, inns and taverns and weapon and armour makers will likely already have been used. Some of the locations have potential adventure hooks; others potential hirelings. There’s a brief note on currency, which is fairly standard fantasy.

Random Map Location Details has some notes on using followed by the locations. Each has a few sentences describing it and important NPCs that may be found there, together with the occasional hook or hireling.

The Map Location and Details Chart is a simple chart for keeping track of what locations have been used and where.

Finally, there are three example visits, each created using the Village Generator by Watabou, with numbers indicating the locations used from the supplement and a space for adding details.

The PDF lacks bookmarks, but with it being a list they are not essential. The Table of Contents covers every page. Navigation is okay. The text is a single column format for the Introduction and two columns for the list and appeared to be free of errors. As well as the colour maps there are also some stock black and white images and colour generated portraits. Presentation is okay.

This is what it sets out to be; a list of 100 locations that could be used to fill in the blanks in a village if needed, together with the occasional hook or other use. This is a useful list of locations that will help when characters are visiting such as villages. Woodrum’s Curious Collection of Village Map Details is a nice supplement and it can be found by clicking here.
