Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #27: Metamorphosis II is a role playing game supplement published by Skirmisher Publishing for use with the Mutant Future system. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License though no parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. The Wisdom from the Wastelands series introduces new options for Mutant Future and this one is essentially a bestiary of creatures.
The supplement is available as a seven-page PDF on DriveThruRPG for $0.99 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. One page is the Open Game License and front matter and one is ads.
The opening paragraph refers to Issue #25 and again explains that creatures that undergo metamorphosis can have two very different forms, even though they are the same species. The creatures use different mutations to do this, including a new one and a concept from Issue #20.
The monsters follow with most having two forms; one has more.
Reptophant/Elzard is a giant monitor lizard whose larval form is an elephant-sized creature with several embryos inside that eat it when they hatch.
Gut Worm/Wing Worm/Megapede/Horned Beetle is as an adult a type of rhinoceros beetle whose immature forms are more hazardous, being a giant tapeworm, a predatory flying worm and a megapede that can hatch into potentially several dozen horned beetles.
Green Jellyfish/Desert Dart is a huge carnivorous dragonfly whose larval form is a toxic jellyfish.
Episcar/Scar (Shrub) is a mutant dogwood whose seedlings grow inside other creatures.
Shade Seeker, Seedling/Shade Seeker, Scorched is a type of mutant chufa grass whose larval form finds direct sunlight dangerous until it evolves past that and also becomes aggressive.
Soaring Stone/Wandering Boulder are large turtles whose juvenile form can fly.
New Mutations has the two mutations introduced on Issue #25 that are needed for many of the creatures, and a new one.
Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #27: Metamorphosis II in Review
The PDF is bookmarked, with major sections linked. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are some stock tweaked colour images. Presentation is okay.
Like Issue #25, this is essentially a new bestiary of creatures that have different forms, some of which are substantially larger than the adult form, due to the larval forms being able to hatch into many adults. Some of the larval forms are more dangerous. Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #27: Metamorphosis II is another collection of interesting new creatures and it can be found by clicking here.
