Wilderness Dressing: Snow & Ice

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Wilderness Dressing: Snow & Ice

Wilderness Dressing: Snow & Ice by Brian Gregory is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

Wilderness Dressing: Snow & IceThe supplement is available as an 11-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one is an ad, one the front matter and Contents and one the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one intended for print and high-end devices, one intended for low-end and mobile.

Table A: Minor Events is a d100 table of minor things to see in the terrain.

Table B: Ice and Snow Dressing is a d100 table of minor features.

Random Snow & Ice Encounters is a d10 table of encounters.

Snow & Ice Terrain Features has some details on how different parts of the terrain affect the game mechanics.

Wilderness Dressing: Snow & Ice in Review

The PDF is bookmarked with the major sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There is a single black and white stock illustration. Presentation is decent.

Many of the results from the two d100 tables are generically useful; there are some Pathfinder stats, but many results lack any such and those that do should be easy to convert. Random Snow & Ice Encounters and Snow & Ice Terrain Features have more system-specific features. As with other tables of this type in this range, Random Snow & Ice Encounters should not be used as a d12 table as characters are as likely to encounter an ice linnorm as four zombies. Wilderness Dressing: Snow & Ice is a useful supplement for travelling in this terrain and it can be found by clicking here.
