Wilderness Dressing: Plains (P1) Remastered

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Wilderness Dressing: Plains (P1) Remastered

Wilderness Dressing: Plains (P1) Remastered by Eric Hindley is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 13-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two are ads, one the front matter and Contents and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.

Wilderness Dressing: Plains (P1) RemasteredThere is first a brief sentence on what plains are.

Minor Plains Events is a d100 list of minor events to encounter.

Minor Dressing is a d100 list of minor features of dressing.

Uneventful Day’s Travel is a d100 list with 20 results of basically non-events.

Campsites is a d100 list with 20 results with places to camp.

Random Plains Encounters is a d12 list of encounters.

The PDF is well bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. The Contents only covers the major sections, but is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There is a single full page black and white illustration. Presentation is okay.

This is another in the Remastered series, and the difference between this and the original is that Uneventful Day’s Travel and Campsites are new tables replacing the original Plains Features that had Pathfinder stats for the effects of plains. Apart from the encounter table, which should not be rolled randomly as usual, because the chances of encountering a couple of ponies is the same as that of encountering a lich, there are only a couple of Pathfinder stats, making this largely system neutral. There are new tables for owners of the original supplement or the compilation, but these don’t really justify getting this at full price.
