Wilderness Dressing: Mountains (P1) Remastered

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Wilderness Dressing: Mountains (P1) Remastered

Wilderness Dressing: Mountains (P1) Remastered by Brian Gregory is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 13-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two are ads, one the front matter and Contents and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.

Wilderness Dressing: Mountains (P1) RemasteredFirst is a brief paragraph on mountains.

Minor Mountain Events is a d100 list of minor events for mountain regions.

Minor Dressing is a d100 list of minor items of dressing for mountains.

Uneventful Day’s Travel is a d100 list with 20 results of essentially non-events.

Campsites is a d100 list with 20 different campsites for the mountains.

Random Mountain Encounters is a d12 list of random encounters from CR 1 to CR 12.

Wilderness Dressing: Mountains (P1) Remastered in Review

The PDF is well bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. The Contents only covers the major sections, but is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There is a single full page black and white illustration. Presentation is okay.

This is another remastered version, and another with slightly more changes than many of the remastered versions. The Mountain Features section, which was Pathfinder game mechanics related to hilly terrain, has been removed, and in its place are the Uneventful Day’s Travel and Campsites tables. This does perhaps make this worth getting for anyone who has the original, or the compilation supplement, though not at full price. There are very few Pathfinder mechanics in this supplement now, with only a couple of footnotes for one table and the Random Mountain Encounters having Pathfinder material, making this useful as a system neutral supplement. Like other such tables, Random Mountain Encounters should not be treated as a random table as there is the same chance of encountering a couple of dwarves as an adult silver dragon.
