Wilderness Dressing: Castles (P1) Remastered by Eric Hindley is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 15-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two are ads, one the front matter and Contents and one the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one intended for print and high-end devices, one intended for low-end and mobile.
Small Castles is a d100 table with 50 results that has 50 smaller fortifications.
Large Castles is another d100 table with 50 results with larger fortifications.
Castle Dressing is a d100 table with dressing for the castles.
Complications & Opportunities is a d100 table with 12 results of adventure hooks.
Castle Name is a d100 table of names for castles.
Castle Ruler is a d100 table with 20 results, each having a name, sex, species and class.
Wilderness Dressing: Castles (P1) Remastered in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with the various sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are some black and white stock illustrations, up to full page in size. Presentation is decent.
This is a newer edition of the original supplement Wilderness Dressing: Castles. Those who have that supplement or the compilation supplement, GM’s Miscellany: Wilderness Dressing, will find nothing new in this; it basically has the same content with some tweaks to the layout. For those that lack either of those supplements, this is a useful supplement for adding some briefly described fortifications and dressing to the game. Though this is stated to be a Pathfinder supplement, it is basically system neutral as the only game references are in the Castle Ruler table, and this are broad enough to cover a range of D&D and derived systems.
