Welcome to Largos by Joseph Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with Cepheus Engine. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available from DriveThruRPG as a 41 page Pay What You Want supplement. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three pages are the front matter and four are the Open Game License.
Game Master Note explains that the adventure is located in the Frontiers of Space setting.
Background explains that the planet of Largos was recently discovered. It has a low human population, is low tech and mostly desert, but fossil fuels have been found in abundance. The characters are asked by a representative of a corporation interested in developing the planet to head there to become sheriff and deputies; the planet is lawless and the last law enforcement officers were killed.
Special Skills explains two useful one, Horse Riding and Quick Draw.
Complications lists various facts that the characters haven’t been told, some rather important.
The Eights and Aces Gang, The Hole in the Wall Gang and The Desert Wind Gang gives the stats for three different gangs. Some Other Interesting Non Player Characters in Town gives some more stats and The Barrow Boys are essentially another gang.
Quick Draw Combat gives rules for this, the skill and details on two new items.
The Town of Hades describes the locations in town.
Events in Hades has some fixed events and some random events.
Random Encounters in Hades has people to meet on the street and other events, with various stats.
The final two pages of content are a map of the settlement of Hades and of the planet.
Welcome to Largos in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is poor. The text maintains a single column format and some minor errors were noticed. Bar the cover illustrations, there are the colour maps and a single full page black and white illustration. Unfortunately, there are no player friendly maps of the town. Presentation is adequate.
As has been common in a few of the adventures in this series, many of the NPC stats are duplicated in two or more locations, increasing the length of the supplement. The stats are given in the NPC section as well as in locations and events they appear in.
Laws at the outsider-controlled spaceport mean that characters cannot visit the planet with advanced technology or body armour, only equipment roughly equivalent to 19th century Earth – because this is a Wild West setting. The adventure is a way for characters participate in a Wild West adventure in a futuristic setting without reskinning the game. The type of Wild West town Hades is, is effectively a stereotypically mashup of everything that can go wrong in Westerns. No law enforcement, people shooting each other in duels at the slightest provocation and gangs roaming wild, doing what they want. Welcome to Largos is not a complex adventure, being more of an adventure location, and it can be found by clicking here.
