A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Weekly Wonders – Unfinished Business

Weekly Wonders – Unfinished Business by Alex Riggs and Joshua Zaback is a role playing game supplement published by Necromancers of the Northwest for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a nine-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.49 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Open Game License.

Weekly Wonders - Unfinished BusinessThe Introduction says that ghosts can be fascinating and in Pathfinder it’s easy to create ghosts with a variety of powers but creating the fluff for a ghost to go with the mechanics can be hard, which is how this supplement intends to help with five ghost stories.

The stories follow; each has a name, background, ghostly activities and how to lay the ghost to rest.

Brandon Gordon, the Father has a father who stayed behind after dying to help his orphaned son but went to extremes.

Carmen Spana, Thief of Hordes has a sister who died seeking out wealth to free her sister’s soul from a hag and now, centuries later, still seeks out wealth though she no longer remembers why.

Lanhua, the Drowned One is a drowned child who now commands a ghost ship that is responsible for many deaths at sea.

Larzo Pundi, the Mad Wizard is a former royal wizard who still seeks to continue his research even after death.

Margret Rose, the Bloody Lady killed the man she loved, her sister, who he loved, and her father, who haunts her father’s estate and possesses women with handsome suitors.

The PDF is bookmarked with various sections linked. Navigation is decent. The text follows a two-column format and appeared to be mostly free of error. There is a single colour stock image. Presentation is okay.

This may be aimed at Pathfinder, but there are no mechanics in the supplement. The ghost stories, therefore, could easily be used in other games, and ghosts designed around them. This makes the supplement more broadly useful than it might appear. Weekly Wonders – Unfinished Business is a nice collection of ghost fluff and it can be found by clicking here.
