Weekly Wonders – Infernal Legions by Alex Riggs and Joshua Zaback is a role playing game supplement published by Necromancers of the Northwest for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available from DriveThruRPG as a 10-page PDF for $1.49 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Open Game License.
The Introduction explains that the supplement introduces a number of unique devils who may be summoned up. When a devil is summoned, a roll should be made to see if a unique devil arrives. A caster who knows the devil’s name can call upon it by name.
The devils then follow. These are divided into categories by type and each is given a description and mechanics. Many also have full stat blocks. Krieg the Cowardly is a Barbed Devil who is unusually small and weak, but charming. Bearded devils have Bruish Fire-Eye, a skald, and Urngolt the Conqueror, a skilled leader. Oshuti is a bone devil bard with a talent for illusion.
Breskia, the Enemy of Beauty, is an erinyes who once was a beautiful angel, but became disgusted with beauty and fell. White Raven is a horned devil rogue who is immune to mind affecting effects. Klex the Cruel is an ice devil who inflicts pain. Herbaz the Vile is an imp who can provide his master with additional powers and Pepper is an imp rogue.
Berum’s Boys are lemures who are bigger and nastier – not unique – and Graltz is an unusually intelligent one with skills as an enchanter. Finally, the Shaper is a pit fiend who shapes lemures into more powerful devils.
Weekly Wonders – Infernal Legions
The PDF is well bookmarked with every devil linked. The text maintains a two-column format and some minor errors were noticed. There are no illustrations. Presentation could be better.
The supplement adds a number of devils who are more interesting in nature, by giving them backgrounds, personalities and mechanical differences. There is no reason why they should only be encountered when summoned; they could just as easily be used as foes in other ways. Though this is a decent supplement, it doesn’t feel as interesting as Abyssal Hordes. Weekly Wonders – Infernal Legions can be found by clicking here.
