Urban Locale #03: Slum Tavern by Creighton Broadhurst is a generic role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press.
The supplement is available as a 7-page PDF for $1.75 from DriveThruRPG but was purchased at a reduced price thanks to a special offer. The supplement comes in two versions, a plaintext file and a PDF. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two pages are ads and about half a page is the front matter and Contents.
Using this Urban Locale is a standard piece explaining how to use the lists and what each list covers. This is followed by a brief paragraph on such taverns, then the d10 lists.
1: The Slum Tavern has ten named and briefly described taverns along with some brief details on the landlord.
2: Major Locale Features has major pieces of tavern dressing.
3: Minor Locale Features is similar but smaller.
4: What’s Going On? has ten random events.
5: Other Folk has ten customers, each named with alignment, species, age and sex, along with a brief description.
6: What’s For Sale? has things to buy, some alcohol, but also items, information and services.
Urban Locale #03: Slum Tavern in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with the various sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.
This is another tavern supplement, such locations being a staple of places visited by characters. In general, it’s more thematic than the Dockside Tavern; though some material would work in other taverns, most is aimed at the seedier side of things.
