Urban Dressing: War-Torn Town by Josh Vogt is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 12-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two the front matter, Contents and Foreword and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.
War-Torn Town: Sights & Sounds has a brief paragraph then a d100 list of things to see and hear.
War-Torn Town: Businesses has a brief paragraph followed by a d100 list of 50 businesses. Each has a name, business type and a brief description.
War-Torn Town: Folk of Interest has a brief paragraph then a d100 list with 50 results. Each NPC is names, given their alignment, sex, race, class and level, and a brief description.
War-Torn Town: Hooks, Complications & Opportunities has a d20 list of possible rumours and adventure hooks.
Urban Dressing: War-Torn Town in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with major sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are several black and white illustrations. Presentation is decent.
This supplement is a bit specialised in use, for there won’t be many towns that fall into this category, unless war is playing a major role in a campaign, but it does cover such a town pretty well. It shows the bleakness and horrors of war, though it doesn’t show the more positive reactions of hope and friendship that can also form in the worst of conditions. Urban Dressing: War-Torn Town is a good, though a little one-sided, supplement, and it can be found by clicking here.
