Urban Dressing: Plague Town 2.0 (P1) by Josh Vogt is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 13-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two are ads, one the front matter and Contents and one the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one intended for print and high-end devices, one intended for low-end and mobile.
Plague Town: Sights & Sounds is a d100 list of things to see and hear in such a town; naturally, there are a lot of unpleasant entries.
Plague Town: Businesses is a d100 list with 50 businesses. Each is given a name, type of business and a brief description. Though some are definitely themed, quite a lot are not.
Plague Town: Folk of Interest is another d100 list with 50 results. Each NPC is given a name, alignment, species, sex, class and level and a brief description. Like the previous list, some results are more general than others.
Plague Town: Adventure Hooks is a d100 list with 20 adventure hooks appropriate for the setting.
Urban Dressing: Plague Town 2.0 (P1) in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with the various sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are some black and white stock illustrations. Presentation is decent.
This is an entry in the 2.0 range of Urban Dressing supplements and like others in that range it hasn’t anything new in it for anyone who has the original version or the GM’s Miscellany: Urban Dressing II compilation, just some layout tweaks. As for how thematic this supplement is, it’s about midway for the series; not the best but not the worst. Sights & Sounds and Adventure Hooks are both appropriate to plague-ridden towns; Businesses and Folk of Interest have a lot of generic entries. Although this is aimed at Pathfinder, it will easily work for many other systems and is a way of fleshing out a plague-stricken town or city district.
