Urban Dressing: Docks

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Urban Dressing: Docks

Urban Dressing: Docks by Brian Liberge is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 13-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $2.45 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one an ad, one the front matter and Contents and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.

Urban Dressing: DocksThe supplement is intended to create dressing for docks and consists of several options.

A: Characteristics & Appearance is a d100 list of general descriptions for the docks, most decent but a few bland.

B: Docked Ships is a d100 list of ship names, some of which are unusual and almost none of them are typical.

C: Hooks, Complications and Opportunities is a d20 table of adventure hooks.

D: Sights & Sounds is a d100 list, with 50 results, of things to see at the docks.

E: NPCs gives an overview of ten different NPCs to encounter at the docks. Each is given a name, alignment, class and level, appearance, personality, mannerisms and hooks.

Urban Dressing: Docks in Review

The PDF is well bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. The Contents isn’t as thorough and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of appropriate black and white illustrations, up to full page in size. Navigation is decent.

This is an almost complete toolbox for generating some docks. Almost, because there’s nothing to bind everything together, and a ship generator is probably going to be needed as well; just a ship’s name doesn’t do much. Still, it’s a decent collection of tables. Urban Dressing: Docks can be found by clicking here.
