Urban Dressing: Borderland Town by Josh Vogt is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 12-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two the front matter, Contents and Foreword and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.
Borderland Town: Sights and Sounds is a d100 list of things to see and hear in a borderland town.
Borderland Town: Businesses is a d100 table with 50 results. Each result covers a suitable business for the town, giving its name, what type of business it is and a short description of it.
Borderland Town: Folk of Interest is another d100 table with 50 results. This one covers NPCs that would be found in such a location, with each given a name, alignment, race, class and level and a brief description.
Borderland Town: Hooks, Rumours and Complications has 20 appropriate hooks and rumours to hear.
Urban Dressing: Borderland Town in Review
The PDF is well bookmarked with major sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a few pieces of black and white stock art. Presentation is okay.
The first series of Urban Dressing supplements covered specific parts of towns; this series covers specific types. In this case, it’s dressing for a borderland town; the sights, sounds, businesses, people and rumours are those that would be encountered in such a town, and the supplement gives decent brief overviews of such, and it can easily be used with other fantasy games.
