Torg Eternity - Up the Creek Quickstart

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Torg Eternity – Up the Creek Quickstart

Torg Eternity – Up the Creek Quickstart by Darrell Hayhurst is a role playing game supplement published by Ulisses Spiele and is a quickstart for Torg Eternity.

The supplement is available as a 16 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG with one page being the front cover and one the Index. There is also a second PDF of additional material.

The opening paragraphs explain that this is intended to be a one-hour introduction to the game and what’s needed to play.

Torg Eternity - Up the Creek QuickstartThe Introduction has the characters, newly-minted Storm Knights three months into the invasion, being briefed on their mission.

Scene One: The Journey Begins introduces the axioms and World Laws of the Living Land, Cosm Cards and how tests work, along with a combat encounter and instructions on how combat works.

Scene Two: Land Ho! explains Dramatic Skill Resolutions and is the final scene.

Cosm Cards explains how these can be handled in this adventure.

Storm Knight Special Rules covers the relevant ones.

Threats has details on the enemies.

The second PDF has 15 pages. The first two pages have monster stats, followed by a page of tokens, a map of the boat and a page with the Living Land’s stats. The last ten pages are five pre-generated characters.

Torg Eternity – Up the Creek Quickstart in Review

The main PDF is bookmarked with the major sections linked. The Index is surprisingly thorough, given the supplement’s length. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a variety of reused colour illustrations. Presentation is decent.

With this being a quickstart, much of the supplement is taken up by rules and the adventure is really short. As such, this makes a good first supplement to get a feeling for the system and play a brief adventure with, but if others are owned, much of the supplement is not needed and the adventure is very short. Fortunately, it’s Pay What You Want. Torg Eternity – Up the Creek Quickstart is a decent supplement to get a feel for Torg Eternity but has little value beyond that and it can be found by clicking here.
