Torg Eternity – Session Zero is a role playing game supplement published by Ulisses Spiele for use with Torg Eternity.
The supplement is available as an 18 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover, two the front matter and one the Table of Contents.
Hello! is a short bit on the Table of Contents page explaining that this supplement is a bit different in tone and approach and is not a formal reference document.
Terms and Techniques looks at a number of different tools that can be used to stop players or GMs from feeling uncomfortable.
Session Zero starts with some advice on running Session Zeroes in general when it comes to Torg Eternity, though much would hold true for other games too, including how to come up with broad guidelines to ensure people are comfortable.
Following this, each of the cosms is covered with the various different topics that could cause people to be uncomfortable, or not have fun, and how to deal with them or ensure that they don’t crop up. Given that Torg Eternity covers a wide range of genres, including two horror settings in Tharkold and Orrorsh, there are definitely uncomfortable topics.
Torg Eternity – Session Zero in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with most of the major sections linked. The Table of Contents is to a similar level of depth. Navigation is okay. The text is either single column or two column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of colour illustrations reused from other supplements. Presentation is okay.
This is, as it states, a supplement written in a more conversational tone; it’s different enough that it’s puzzling why it isn’t just out and out free, which is probably should be, given the topics covered. Some of the advice is useful, but some that crops up in pretty much any cosm would essentially remove the uniqueness of that cosm; in other words, it would likely be better to say, “If you don’t like, X, do not play in this cosm.” Because, for example, horror cosms with the horror removed are pointless. Torg Eternity is a multi-genre game and some players will not like certain genres and what they encompass, horror being the most obvious. Torg Eternity – Session Zero can be found by clicking here.
