A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Torg Eternity Mission Generator

Torg Eternity Mission Generator by Mike McCall is a role playing game supplement published by Ulisses Spiele through the Infiniverse Exchange Community Content Programme for use with Torg Eternity.

The supplement is available as a Pay What You Want supplement from DriveThruRPG and consists of two PDFs.

The Mission Generator is the first PDF and has 27 pages with one being the front cover and one the front matter.

Part One: Mission Generator explains that the supplement has a series of tables intended to help construct a one Act mission on the fly. It then explains how to use each of the tables. Mission Core tables determine the mission type, zone type, opposition strength, cosm, opposition type depending on the cosm and world law and twist. There are then supplementary tables to determine the goals for attack, protect and acquire missions.

Part Two: Foe Generators is a series of generators for creating foes for each of the different cosms, including Core Earth.

Appendix: Foe Templates has a series of templates intended to be used with the Foe Generators for the various cosms. These templates are not typical monster or threat stats, instead being a series of adds to adjust a foe using the template.

The second PDF has 45 pages with the first explaining that they are intended to be used with the Foe Generators from the main PDF and that each is a half-sized character sheet for one of the archetypes from the Appendix. 43 pages cover these, with the final page being a blank template.

Torg Eternity Mission Generator in Review

The PDFs lack bookmarks and are long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is poor. The text varies between single and two column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of stock colour illustrations. Presentation is okay.

These PDFs are a useful set of tools for creating simple missions. They, of course, do not have to be used on the fly; they could be used to create a stock of simple missions that could be slotted into adventures.
