The Temple of Domi by Joseph Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with OSRIC. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. This is an adventure for characters of levels 10-13.
The supplement is available as a 55 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover, three the front matter and four the Open Game License.
Game Master Information explains that this is the second in the Mountain of Fire adventure series, following on from The Oracle at Gula, a campaign against the lich Malcon the Firebringer. The next two adventures are The Castle of Aandoran the Defiler and The Mountain of Fire, though they could be played as standalones. It then gives some background details on Malcon from the author’s campaign then the recommended levels for the adventure and what it roughly entails, which includes a lot of undead, and various abbreviations used that refer to AD&D 1E rulebooks.
The Journey to the Temple briefly covers the journey until the Dark Forest where the temple is located is reached.
The Dark Forest has a d6 table of random encounters in the forest.
The Temple of Domi has a d8 table of random encounters within the temple. The temple itself is a five-level pyramid filled with the usual dangers; monsters, traps and puzzles. Puzzles might be for extra treasure or to escape a dangerous situation. As mentioned, this is filled with undead as well as other dangers.
New Magic Items has new items for the adventure.
New Monsters has new monsters.
The final four pages of content have a map of the exterior and three pages of maps for the temple; a couple of pages have two levels on them.
The Temple of Domi in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a two-column format and some minor errors were noticed. There are a variety of stock colour and black and white illustrations. Presentation is okay.
This is a potentially dangerous adventure and parties without a good means for dealing with undead will be at a serious disadvantage. There are plenty of dangers inside the temple itself and even the journey through the forest is hardly safe. This is definitely a higher-level adventure, though other than that it is a pretty standard dungeon crawl. To place it in another setting should be fairly easy; some material will need altering, but not that much. It will also work fairly easily without being part of the series. The Temple of Domi is a dangerous adventure that can be found by clicking here.
