The Quiet Shrine is a role playing game supplement written and published by Dougal Cochrane for use with Shadowdark. This is an adventure for 4th level characters.
The supplement is available as a 16 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover and one the front matter.
Then covers the history of the Quiet Shrine, how the dwarves of Clan Hammerhand carved a shrine-tomb and place of quiet contemplation into a cliff, until the clan was overwhelmed and no guardians were left. Duergar scavengers discovered the place and awakened things inside it.
Now has a brief description of the ruin then the general features, danger level and illumination of the shrine and caves.
Hooks and Rumors has three adventure hooks and six rumours to hear.
After this is a map of the shrine.
Room Descriptions covers the outside of the shrine then the various locations in it.
Monsters and Encounters has stats for monsters encountered as well as a d6 table of encounters, both events and creatures.
The Quiet Shrine in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and has enough sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. As well as the map, there are a number of stock black and white illustrations. Presentation is decent.
The adventure is a comparatively simple dungeon crawl, and with only a little effort it could be dropped into most settings. Although a Shadowdark adventure, it can be converted to other systems, especially OSR ones. The Quiet Shrine is a decent little adventure and it can be found by clicking here.
