The Dee Sanction: Window of the Soul by Paul Baldowski is a role playing game supplement published by Just Crunch Games for use with The Dee Sanction.
The supplement is available as a three-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.85 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a bundle.
This is a short adventure, set in Southwark in London, in early 1572; some events are historical in nature and are related to the time.
The first part of the supplement gives the background details, which is an attempt by a noble to be released from custody, but his enchantment went adrift and contaminated some ale, leading to some acts of madness that have drawn the attention of the Dee Sanction. The background and the effects of the ale are given.
The adventure can be played as a one-off, or some of the events in it can be inserted into other adventures to draw the players’ attention. The first encounter they have is when four men accost a couple and one attempts to pull out the man’s fingernails. The characters can then investigate this odd behaviour, which will lead them to a number of places in Southwark as they trace the origin of the strange behaviour. This should eventually lead them to the source of this, and they may then uncover the plot.
The Dee Sanction: Window of the Soul in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text maintains a four-column landscape format, which is in truth hard to read on smaller devices without zooming, and appeared to be free of errors. There are a couple of colour map illustrations and a handout. Presentation is okay.
This is a decent little adventure for The Dee Sanction, although there is a distinct possibility that the characters will not truly discover what is going on and that the person making the plan might well succeed at it. Which, truthfully, is perfectly appropriate for the system. The Dee Sanction: Window of the Soul can be found by clicking here.
