The Copper Circle is a role playing game supplement written and published by A.M. Jackson for use with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
The supplement is available as a seven page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover.
This is an adventure for characters of levels 1-2. The opening paragraph explains that a once-great wizard built the construct so that other magic-users can learn his spell (Tenser’s floating disc, though not named).
It then explains that the copper construct is a levitating vehicle, gives four rumours about it as well as details on the three entrances, the statue puzzle, mage-disks, psionic pygmies and how to ignite it.
Dungeon Rooms covers the various locations.
Wandering Monsters has a d6 table of wandering monsters.
Designer’s Note explains that the adventure came to be by wondering what kind of shrine would contain a 1st level spell which must be discovered through play. It gives some details of the wizard Thenzur from the author’s setting, talks about the puzzles and what might happen if the players decide they want to sell the construct.
The final two pages have maps, one described as being for VTT, so essentially a players’ map, and the other the GM’s.
The Copper Circle in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that they aren’t essential. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of black and white illustrations. Presentation is good.
The adventure is written for AD&D, and its presentation does mirror that of the oldest of adventures for that system; this also means that it will work fine with OSRIC. The dungeon is a small one, and the puzzles will require players to solve them, which will be a hindrance for those no good at such. The Copper Circle is a definitely old school adventure and it can be found by clicking here.
