Stowaway

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Stowaway

Stowaway by Joseph Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with Cepheus Engine. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as an 11 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter and three the Open Game License.

StowawayThe opening paragraphs explain that a young boy climbs aboard the characters’ ship whilst they are at a star port. The boy is a powerful psi who was sent to a psi school by his parents; he fled the school and they want him back in order to help psionics get more recognition and tolerance across the Sonora sector; though not stated, the adventure is set in the Frontiers of Space.

The Boy has stats for the young boy.

The School has some brief details on the psi school.

The Administrators has stats for the people from the school.

Complications are things that might go wrong and what the boy wants.

His Home World gives some details on the world that the boy wants to return to.

Mission Completion Objectives basically explains that there are none. The boy’s parents will take him back after hearing of his mistreatment at the school, and pay a small amount of money, whilst the school will just try and take him.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that they aren’t really needed. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. Bar the covers, there are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.

It’s hard to call this an adventure, really; it’s more of a moral dilemma. What should the characters do with the young boy? Whatever they do won’t generate much in the way of reward, so it boils down to how they think they should act. Stowaway can be found by clicking here.
