Sheep by Jonathan Davidson and John Sgammato is a role playing game supplement published by Columbia Games Inc. for use with HârnMaster. This is a bestiary article.
The supplement is available as a two-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.48 but was purchased at a reduced price during a sale.
The first page of content, Sheep, covers domesticated sheep. It explains that they are amongst the most common livestock on the mainland and are numerous on Hârn. Predators such as wolves and gargun are fond of them, too. This section details what sheep are used for, as almost every part has a value, with wool and meat being the two biggest uses, and how ownership is marked. It explains the terminology and use in heraldry. Two specific breeds of sheep are detailed and a sidebar has stats for domestic sheep followed by their economic value.
Mountain Sheep is the second page and details a wild breed of sheep. This covers the differences between them and domestic sheep, the terrain they live in and how they are hunted, as well as the regions where they are common and heraldic uses. A sidebar shows where mountain sheep can be found on Hârn and their HârnMaster game stats.
Sheep in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and, with only two pages of content, doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text maintains a single column with sidebar format and appeared to be free of error. There are a couple of, possibly stock, black and white illustrations. Presentation is fine.
Sheep is one of the Hârn bestiary articles that cover a limited number of creatures, in this case one with breeds and a second type, in detail. The game stats don’t take up much of the article, so it could be used with other game systems without much difficulty. Primarily, this is a background article for Hârn, and that it does well. Sheep, whether wild or domestic, are unlikely to be common foes, but they might be hunted for foes. Sheep can be found by clicking here.
