She Lost Her Marbles by Samantha Boulton and Wayne Boulton is a role playing game supplement published by Gildor Games for use with Elemental.
The supplement is available as a ten-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.99 but was purchased at a reduced price thanks to a special offer. One page is the front cover.
The opening paragraphs explain that this adventure is for five beginner-level players and is also intended for younger audiences, though both can be adapted. It isn’t intended to kill off any characters, who are 12-year-old kids who enter a witch’s house, where the witch needs them to retrieve some marbles – power beads. Before You Start explains character creation and with the characters being young, they have less XP to spend. A sidebar has tips for younger players.
Scene 1: The Dare has the characters being dared to sneak into the witch house and a sidebar has a table of rumours.
Scene 2: Warwick Mansion has the characters entering the yard and then the mansion, which is mapped though not detailed; the GM can describe the rooms if needed.
Scene 3: I’ve Lost My Marbles has the characters encountering the witch, who immobilises them and then asks them to retrieve her lost marbles; she will shrink them down in size so they can go where they fell.
Scene 4: Searching For Marbles has the characters looking for the lost marbles and encountering some now dangerously large creatures; a sidebar has a list of things that could be found and used as weapons and armour.
Scene 5: Finale has the characters returning after collecting the marbles.
The Epilogue is set two years later and has the now-teen characters performing a ritual.
She Lost Her Marbles in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and has enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of colour illustrations, as well as the black and white maps. Presentation is decent.
Mapping for the adventure is curious; the mansion is mapped but not described whilst the quest for the marbles has no maps, but lots of descriptions, because a more narrative approach is being taken. The adventure itself is a short, generally spooky-themed one that does have a hook for a sequel, should the GM choose to make one; as it stands, it’s currently best suited as a one-shot. She Lost Her Marbles is an okay little adventure that can be found by clicking here.
