Queasy Quarry Quest

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Queasy Quarry Quest

Queasy Quarry Quest is a role playing game supplement written and published by imnotsupposedtogetjigsinit for use with Mausritter. This is an adventure.

The supplement is available as a Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. The PDF comes in two versions, A5 pages and A4 spreads; the A5 version has 21 pages with one page being the front cover and one the front matter. There is also a png map of the location.

Queasy Quarry QuestThe first page of content has the same map as in the png.

A Tunnel Too Far explains that the characters descend into a disused fungus mine with a list of the various dangers. Some brief details on the mine and its owners, ABORT, are given, followed by the mine’s history. Due to the price of mycelium spiking, ABORT ordered a third tunnel be excavated. This resulted in miners breaking into the burrow of a colossal drill worm. Miners died from this and shadowy figures in the area. ABORT wants the mine reopening.

Into the Retching Earth starts by listing the four factions in the mine and four different hooks to draw in the characters. Next are some rules for handling the engulfing darkness found in the mine, in detailed and simple forms. The darkness affects what the characters can see and do. Rules for digging and the chances of causing cave-ins, and their effects are covered, and there are several items and pieces of treasure. Dirt Dwellers is the bestiary.

The mine itself is then detailed. It’s split into three zones; ABORT’s offices, the mine and the worm’s burrow. There are different potential encounters and creatures to deal with.

Queasy Quarry Quest in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a two-column format and a few minor errors were noticed. Formatting could be better, though; the monster stats are not as easy to read as they should be and every page has a black background. Given that one page should be printed out, this could be better. There are a couple of pieces of stock art taking up most or all of a page and a couple of other images. Presentation is okay.

This is a pretty detailed adventure with quite a lot of additional material, including new monsters and items, as well as some new rules. Though the mine may appear comparatively small on the map, there is a decent amount of content in it, though in some places it isn’t presented as well as it could be. Queasy Quarry Quest is a decent adventure and can be found by clicking here.
