Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains - Kerym Abrus

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains – Kerym Abrus

Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains – Kerym Abrus by Ginny Di is a role playing game supplement published by Jeff Stevens Games for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. The supplement is a sample from Potbellied Kobold’s Guide to Villains & Lairs 5E.

The supplement is available as an 11 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, two are ads and one the Open Game License. There is also a zip file with two PNG maps, the same location with and without a grid, and a PNG VTT token.

Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains - Kerym AbrusAbout this Supplement explains that this was written for the Potbellied Kobold’s Guide to Villains & Lairs Kickstarter, how to use it and the Potbellied Kobold, who may have changed thanks to the events of Adventures from the Potbellied Kobold.

Kerym Abrus explains that the NPC grew up with druidic elves but was banished due to his experiments with poisons. Since then, he has found a use for his skills with the wealthy and powerful. The elf conducts experiments to see how poisons affect living creatures, experiments he also enjoys. Kerym’s stats and equipment are given, as well as how to use him in a game.

Kerym’s Laboratory details his home base where he conducts his experiments, together with some new items.

Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains – Kerym Abrus in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, has enough different sections that these would have been appreciated. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of error. There is a stock colour illustration for They, another colour image from Adventures, some black and white stock and a custom black and white map. Presentation is good.

Kerym Abrus can be easily dropped into a campaign; all that’s needed is a place to drop his laboratory. He can also be used in a number of different ways, as explained; the logical one is as a poisoner who needs dealing with, but less principled characters, or those that simply don’t know what Kerym is, could encounter him as a quest giver, for example. Someone fascinated with poisons is always going to be looking for new material and toxins. Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains – Kerym Abrus is a decent villain with different uses and can be found by clicking here.
