Patrel: Tribal Moot Site by Oddgeir Drevdal is a role playing game supplement published by Columbia Games Inc. for use with Hârn and HârnMaster.
The supplement is available as a six-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $4.99 but was purchased at a reduced price during a sale.
The opening paragraph explains that this is the site of the annual gathering of the nomadic Hodiri nation.
History explains that Patrel has been a gathering site for over two millennia, previously used by the Jarin and then the Lythians before finally the Hodiri. A small permanent settlement has formed at the site, occupied by outcasts who are now the caretakers of the moot.
Current Situation explains that the moot is one of the largest horse markets of Hârn, mostly amongst themselves, but some are traded to outsiders. The outcast clan is slowly gaining respect amongst the other Hodiri.
After this is a full-page labelled colour map of the site.
The various locations are then detailed, with a standard format followed for those locations offering goods or services.
The Tribal Moot gives details on what happens at the moot and a sidebar covers a legend related to the Wagerstone.
Next is a page with an excerpt from Atlas Hârnica Map L9, showing the moot’s location, a map of Hârn, again with the moot’s location marked, and a list of related products.
The final page has an unlabelled players’ map of the site.
Patrel: Tribal Moot Site in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text is either single column with sidebar or two column and appeared to be free of errors. As well as the various maps, there are a couple of colour illustrations. Presentation is decent.
This covers a small location and settlement on Hârn that could easily be dropped into other settings, especially anywhere there are areas occupied by nomadic tribes. It also lacks HârnMaster stats and is therefore easily usable with other settings. However, even for a Hârn product, this is quite expensive at full price. Patrel: Tribal Moot Site is a decent, though expensive, little supplement and it can be found by clicking here.
