Millan's Tomb

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Millan’s Tomb

Millan’s Tomb by Maude Cort is a role playing game supplement published by Chaosium Inc. through the Miskatonic Repository Community Content Programme for use with Call of Cthulhu, the horror role playing game based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

The supplement is available as a two page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG and is intended to be printable on a single piece of paper.

Millan's TombHooks has three different adventure hooks for the investigators.

Dangers has dangers inside the mine.

The Dreads are the creatures in the mine.

Solutions has two ways of solving the problem.

Set up explains that a mine in the town of Buress was founded nine months ago and started producing gold. Millan was sent to ensure the miners gave their dues, and was buried in a cave-in by the miners. He then cursed the gold, and miners started going missing from the mine now known as Millan’s Tomb.

Locations has seven different locations described.

Cursed Chamber is the heart of the curse.

Plot Points has three different plot points.

Clues has eight different clues in two different chains, one of three clues, one of five.

There is a list of the various notable NPCs.

Millan’s Tomb in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text follows various different formats and some miner errors were noticed. There are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.

The layout of the supplement is curious. It’s not uncommon to find adventures intended to just use one page, but usually they have a layout that makes sense, with a trifold layout being common. This looks like it may be intended to be folded in half, but the locations of the various sections makes little sense either as one page or folded in half. No matter how you arrange it, the text in Set up, which explains what happened, is not at the beginning; if folded in half, it will be the last thing read. The sections could really do with shifting around into an order that is easier to read. Other than that, this is a simple, small adventure that could be dropped into a setting.
