Lia-Kavair is a role playing game supplement published by Columbia Games Inc. for use with HârnMaster, though it has no game stats and is system-neutral.
The supplement is available as a four-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.99 although it was purchased at a reduced price thanks to a special discount.
The opening paragraph explains that little is known by most of the Lia-Kavair, which is better known as the Thieves Guild, though it bears little resemblance to the commercial guilds of the region, has no apprentice training structure and isn’t a unified organisation.
History explains the origins of the name and the guild, which originated from the lieutenants and followers of a brigand. In the internal strife following his death, the lieutenants fled and, better-organised than local criminals, dominated other regions. The sidebar explains that the guild has a collection with the church of Naveh.
Present Situation divides the continent into Western and Eastern regions with descriptions of the chapters and the dominant leaders in each. Northern Hârn is only briefly mentioned.
Organisation explains how the chapters are organised and that it tends to be urban in nature, as well as how the local Guildmaster operates. A sidebar has some slang terms.
Finally, Activities has the sorts of criminal activities that chapters are involved in.
Lia-Kavair in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these are not needed. The text is either two column or single column with sidebar and appeared to be free of errors. There are black and white and colour illustrations, at least some of which appear to be custom. Presentation is good.
This supplement gives a brief overview of how the thieves guild of Hârn operates, though nothing is gone into in any great depth. It can be a useful accompaniment to other supplements that mention the Lia-Kavair, but doesn’t go into enough detail to be used by itself. As mentioned, it is also completely system-neutral. Lia-Kavair is a short supplement that does provide useful information and it can be found by clicking here.
