Lady Belteshazzar by Cliff Dunn is a role playing game supplement published by ZealZaddy for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a nine page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, one the Contents and one the Open Game License.
The first two pages of content are taken up by some links to Free City of Vadashar material, a sidebar, Welcome to the Free City of Vadashar, that is duplicated from other supplements and gives background and history of the city, and some details on using Lady Belteshazzar in a non-Vadashar or a Vadashar campaign.
The Mother of All Schemers gives the history of this NPC, who is the mother of the current patriarch of Vadashar, from her pledging to a goddess to her pursuit of Prince Azzicar Dalivas and involvement in matters not generally known to the public.
Tea & Character Assassination: Lady Belteshazzar’s Saloon details the lady’s habit of inviting the noble ladies of the city to her villa, where they would exchange information and form alliances, which allows Lady Belteshazzar to influence the city-state and gather information, as well as indulge her grudges. One major grudge is detailed as is her relationship with her son; said son now sees his mother as the manipulative schemer she is. Her stats are also given.
Lady Belteshazzar in Review
The PDF is bookmarked, with major sections linked, although some of the bookmarks are out of order. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of stock colour illustrations. Presentation is okay.
This supplement describes a single NPC in detail, one who has a great deal of influence within her city-state as well as access to a great deal of information as to what is happening. Using her outside of Vadashar shouldn’t be too difficult; some names will need changing and her connection to the ruler could easily be removed. Lady Belteshazzar describes an influential NPC in a decent amount of detail and it can be found by clicking here.
