Kalistar’s Carpets by Jospeh Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with OSRIC. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 13 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter and three the Open Game License.
The opening paragraphs explain that cities are made up of various places and that this supplement covers one such. Kalistar’s Carpets is said to be one of the finer shops, but there is more to it than that.
The Master Weaver covers the proprietor, with his stats and his ways of doing business.
Encounters in the Shop or Just Outside is a d6 table of NPCs, each named and given stats and a brief description as to why they are there.
Key to the Shop covers the various locations.
Adventure Hooks has five different adventure hooks, with ideas that correlate to some in the NPCs.
The final page of content has a map of the shop.
Kalistar’s Carpets in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column format and some minor errors were noticed. Bar the covers and maps, there are no illustrations. Presentation is okay.
This supplement is what it looks like; a shop that can be dropped into a fantasy city. Though it may not be one the characters might automatically think of visiting, the adventure hooks do give them reason. Kalistar’s Carpets is a useful little shop supplement and it can be found by clicking here.
