Household by N. Robin Crossby is a role playing game supplement published by Columbia Games Inc. for use with Hârn and HârnMaster.
The supplement is available as a 10-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $4.99 but was purchased at a reduced price during a sale.
The first page looks at how money needs to be spent on a household, referring to other aspects of home ownership covered in Real Estate, and the sidebar looks at why characters would need to spend money.
Organising Data: Household Budget Form looks at the main sections of the form and what they cover.
Residents looks at listing the residents on the form, their skills, effectiveness, working conditions and hours needed.
Budget Summary looks at what the various things mean.
Indices has them for food and drink, clothing, living space, housekeeping, luxury and standard of living, with tables covering the meaning of the score for each index.
Supplementary Considerations looks at eating out, non-resident servants and living at inns.
Glossary of Household Terms explains what these mean.
The final page is the household budget form.
Household in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and has enough sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text is either single column with sidebar or two column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a variety of colour illustrations. Presentation is good.
This supplement is really one that is truly generic; the information in it is neither specific to Hârn nor to HârnMaster. It would work with any similar kind of setting. However, it covers the subject in far more detail than the average group of players are likely to want to do. Essentially, this supplement is a detailed way of accurately determining how much money a household will regularly spend. Household covers household expenses in probably too much detail for most and can be found by clicking here.
