Harrowing Hunts (Vol 1) by Alex Rinehart is a role playing game supplement published by Idlewild Games, LLC for use with Slayers RPG.
The supplement is available as a collection of six PDFs from itch for $6 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle.
The Show Must Go On is a two-page PDF. This is a Hunt on three acts where the Slayers must investigate a new theatre that has just opened up.
Trouble on the High Seas is a four-page PDF. This is a hunt in three acts set in a Lake; the Lake could be in most Districts and is usually larger than it looks. The Slayers must investigate the disappearance of ships on the Lake.
The Clocktower Dilemma is a seven-page PDF with one page being the front cover. This is a Hunt in four acts in which the Slayers must investigate the Clocktower in the Clocktower district. The Clocktower is used to set time for every timepiece in the city, but has stopped working. This Hunt has a moral dilemma to solving it.
An Apple a Day is a two-page PDF and is a Hunt in three acts. The Slayers are asked to find a doctor for someone; doctors can be a problem.
Haunted Honeymoon is a three-page PDF. This is a Hunt in three acts in which the Slayers need to help a recently married man who, some time back, annoyed a powerful being.
Meet the Hunters is a four-page PDF. This is a Hunt in three acts in which the Slayers have become the hunted.
Harrowing Hunts (Vol 1) in Review
None of the PDFs have bookmarks, but they are all short enough that they are not needed. Navigation is okay. The text predominately follows a single column format – Monster stats sometimes have two columns – and appeared to be free of errors. There are a handful of stock illustrations. Presentation is okay.
These PDFs have a range of different types of Hunts, with different problems. None are particularly long and many have stats for new monsters, which is useful, as monsters can always be reused. The Clocktower Dilemma has the potential to be the most interesting, depending on the group it is played with.
