A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Gregorius21778: A Different Heritage

Gregorius21778: A Different Heritage is a role playing gale supplement written and published by Kai Pütz a.k.a Gregorius21778. The supplement is designed for use with Dark Streets & Darker Secrets and, as such, is covered by the Open Game License with some parts considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available from DriveThruRPG as a seven-page PDF for $0.75 but was purchased at a reduced price during a sale. One page is the front cover, half a page the front matter and one page the Open Game License.

Gregorius21778: A Different HeritageThe introductory paragraphs explain that the supplement provides new options for the Supernatural Heritages in the core book (there are ten of these, associated with the Gifted) and that they are based on those in 50 Mythic Abilities. There is an optional rule on giving Gifted Non-Spellcasters, who have more Supernatural Heritages and gain them as they advance.

The Heritages are then described. Each has a name, game effects and a suggestion as to which heritage could, or shouldn’t, have this ability.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is okay. The text follows a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There’s a single piece of stock art. Presentation is okay.

The introductory paragraphs also state that the heritages are not balanced against each other and could be used for player characters, or just foes. The GM is recommended to consider each heritage carefully before adding it to the game; a recommendation that should be paid heed to. Some are clearly far more powerful than others. The same advice should be taken with the optional rule as well. A character with several supernatural abilities from their heritage may be more limited than a spellcaster, but could also be substantially more powerful within that limited field. Gregorius21778: A Different Heritage is a useful little supplement with new options and it can be found by clicking here.
